On March 23, 2016, at the Farmstead Inn in Shipshewana, Indiana, the LaGrange County Economic Development Corporation held their second annual Launch LaGrange County event. Finalists from Lakeland High School, Westview High School, Prairie Heights High School, and Howe Military Academy all came together to present their business pitches and compete for grants, scholarships, and other prizes.

First place went to Isaiah Lehman, Erik Mellinger, and Josh Grogg of Lakeland High School with their pitch of Shipshewana Pedicabs, a fun and quirky transportation service to conduct business in Shipshewana. They received a $5,000 grant and plan to start offering their services in late May of this year.

Second place went to H-D Drone Service, founded by  Dalton Misner and Hunter Whitney of Westview High School. Their business provided crop analysis services through use of drones.

Two teams tied for third place. The first team to tie for second runner up was Jordan Miller and Trey Zabona of Westview High School with DonnAGlove, a product designed for professionals who frequently change sterile gloves in food service or medicine. The second business to tie for second runner up was Braden Reynolds of Westview High School with EquaHeat, a company that developed a battery-powered alternative to a heating pad.

All the winners received different grants and scholarships. The other finalists and competitors received scholarships from different universities and college as well. The night was a success and the LaGrange County Economic Development Corporation is very much looking forward to next year.
