Starcraft RV to Resume Production at its Topeka Facility

Topeka, Ind. (March 3rd, 2010) — Starcraft RV, a division of Jayco, Inc. and the LaGrange County Economic Development Corporation announced today the re-opening of the Starcraft RV manufacturing facilities in Topeka, IN. This announcement follows the suspension of operations at the Topeka facility in January 2009 due to the economic recession and downturn in the recreational vehicle market.

Starcraft RV is one of three operating divisions of Jayco, Inc., the world’s largest privately held manufacturer of recreational vehicles. The Topeka plant will initially produce the Autumn Ridge travel trailer line, and will create approximately 50 new jobs at the facility. Additional product lines under the Starcraft name are planned to be phased in at the Topeka facility as outside market conditions allow.

“We are excited about the many possibilities that come with the re-opening of the Topeka facilities” said Jim Jacobs, General Manager of Starcraft RV. “While the worldwide economic downturn forced us to scale back operations company wide, we always intended to resume production in Topeka if the market rebounded.” The company also has future plans to upgrade and make improvements to the existing facility as the economy allows.

"We're excited that Starcraft RV is making this investment inside LaGrange County” said Keith Gillenwater, executive director of the LaGrange County Economic Development Corporation. "Starcraft RV has been a valuable employer in LaGrange County for a number of years, and we welcome the news of their re-investment into their Topeka facility.”
