LaGrange County is home to a hard-working and values oriented workforce, known for excellent craftsmanship. Approximately 43 percent of the county’s population is Amish, which gives LaGrange County a unique advantage when it comes to certain industry, such as woodworking, agricultural and food processing and manufactured homes.  The county also welcomes many commuters from surrounding regions daily, to add to its ready and available workforce.
 
In northern Indiana, many higher educational facilities can be found in the area, including the prestigious University of Notre Dame, located in South Bend. Using the I-80/90 Indiana Toll Road, Notre Dame is only an hour’s drive away from LaGrange County. This institution produces some of the most highly-skilled minds in the world, who leave with knowledge that would be a welcome addition to any company. 
 
Over fifty percent of LaGrange County’s population lies within the 18-64 age range, with the median age being 30. This indicates an experienced workforce that is fitting for the county’s targeted industry segments. The LaGrange County 2016 unemployment rate was 3.5 percent, which is under the state average.
