Four Area County Economic Development Organizations to Host 4th Annual Economic Development Forum

Angola, IN. (August 24, 2011)   A partnership of four area county economic development organizations announced today they will be presenting their fourth annual “Economic Development Forum” on September 14, 2011 from 9am – 2pm at the Glendarin Hills Golf Club in Angola, IN.  This year’s forum, “Manufacturing:  New Challenges Present New Opportunities” is a continuation of the successful “Grow Your Knowledge, Grow Your Community” series sponsored by the four organizations and previously held in Kendallville and Shipshewana.   

“The previous events that the four organizations have convened these past three years have been very effective and well received” said John Sampson, President and CEO of the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership.  “The success of the series demonstrates their commitment to educating our region on matters with direct impact on the success of economic development at the local level.”   The event, which will take place on September 14, 2011 at the Glendarin Hills Golf Club is presented free of charge and includes a catered lunch. This is event is made possible thanks to the generous support from our sponsors Wabash Valley Power, NIPSCO, Indiana Michigan Power, Glendarin Hills Golf Club, and the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership.  This event is co-hosted by the DeKalb County Economic Development Partnership, the LaGrange County Economic Development Corporation, the Noble County Economic Development Corporation, and the Steuben County Economic Development Corporation.  

This year’s event will feature keynote speaker Jerry Szatan, founder and principal of Szatan & Associates, a widely recognized leader in the field of corporate site selection and in economic development consulting.  Mr. Szatan’s previous site selection clients include such notable names as Bank One, Boar’s Head, Sun Microsystems, Union Pacific Railroad, and Waste Management.  Featured speakers for the program include Michael Hicks of Ball State University’s Center for Business and Economic Research, who will be discussing the economic impact of manufacturing on the four county region; and a discussion panel featuring Marty Palmer , President of Auburn Gear, Kathleen Randolph of WorkOne Northeast, and Joe Sepkovich of the Purdue University Manufacturing Extension Partnership who will be discussing the needs of manufacturers in the region and some of the resources available to assist them.    

The program will be again be moderated by Richard Heupel, Director of Ball State University’s Building Better Communities program.
