Innovation began nine years ago within the walls of PowerSafe Automation, a safety company providing customized machine safety and automation solutions across the country.

PowerSafe Automation was founded in 2016 by Shawn and Tracy Mantel. With over 30 years of experience in the T-slot aluminum extrusion safety industry, Shawn recognized a need in the market not only for safety products but also for installation services. What started as small projects in their living room quickly grew, leading to the purchase of a building in Wolcottville in the fall of 2016, where the business is still located today.

PowerSafe Automation reflects the company’s dual focus on machine safety and electrical tie-ins, helping factories and industrial operations maintain compliance, efficiency, and— most importantly—safety. The company specializes in custom-designed machine safety guarding made from aluminum T-slot framing systems, as well as electrical safety components that directly integrate into their customers’ machines. The purpose of their products is to reduce risks and enhance safety in complex machine environments. They often collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure their solutions meet strict OSHA, ANSI, and other industry safety standards. Each project is tailored to the specific needs of a facility, encompassing consultation, design, fabrication, installation, training, and more.

Starting in 2016 with just a few part-time employees, PowerSafe grew to 11 employees by 2022, and currently operates with a team of 22. They continue their growth strategy by employing team members in multiple states to better serve their customers. Additionally, they are partnering with risk assessment companies, robotics, and AI-driven solutions to enhance their competitive edge in the market.

PowerSafe Automation services clients from coast to coast, and although much of their work takes place outside of LaGrange County, their home base remains in Indiana. PowerSafe Automation is proud to be a part of the LaGrange County manufacturing industry.
